Volksschule Wildbach - Austria

Our school is settled in southern part of Austria in Styria. We are close to the capital city of our region, which is called Deutschlandsberg. The “Volksschule Wildbach” has seven classes and about 115 kids in their school. Our headmaster is Ilse Lieschnegg and we have around 13 teachers during the week over there. All the kids are young and between 5 and 11 years old. We teach all subjects and we have some special teachers for religion, sport, handicrafts, and theater. Our school follows the methodology of Jena plan, which focuses on independent learning by doing, cooperation, communal life, shared responsibility by school parents and children. In our school there are 6 children of different learning abilities and special needs as well as students with different cultural backgrounds such as students from Syria. Our motivation is to get in contact with other schools in Europe, integrate our students into local and European culture and incorporate them into our school community. We could learn so much, if we share our knowledge and experiences and if we motivate our students and help them interact both within the school community and beyond that. We can learn about history, geography, music, art different lifestyle of every country in an interesting and attractive way. It is important, for all participants, to have fun, work with kids and adults and enjoy the project. Learning happens through that. The key people will be Mr. Joannes Tarmastin, Ms. Ursula Koch and Ms. Maria Reicht. Ms. Kathrin Lampl, will also participate in the project and the headteacher, Ms. Isle Lieschnegg and Ms. Marianne Kohler will be in charge in case of withdrawal. We have many years of experience in eTwinning projects and we are an eTwinning school as well. Every year we try to join some projects and get a lot of good ideas from all around Europe. We have “Schoolovision” at our school for 10 years now and the “European Chain Reaction” started a few years ago. The Christmas cards project was exciting too. We can contribute to this project by sharing our Jena plan methodology with other partners and exchanging good ideas and practices. We can also contribute individually according to our expertise. The theater teacher can be responsible for school communication and he can rehearse plays. The Music teacher can organize musical events and songs. The other teachers can organize video conferences and communication events with the partners. All teachers will be responsible for posting on our Facebook account. Ms. Koch and Ms. Reicht will help students and teachers alike with the eTwinning platform and Ms. Lampl and Mr Tarmastin will be responisble for disseminating the project results.
