Erasmus+ Open Day Event – Let’s go cultural – Volksschule Wildbach
On July 6th the annual school festival took place at our elementary school with the
entire school staff, parents and students. This festival was also used to present the
results of the last Erasmus trips to Turkey and Greece. Whitehouse Common disseminate our visit to Greece
Following our return from Elefsina, Mrs Milward, Mrs Bird and Señora Stevens were eager to share what they had done.
Inspired by a lesson she’d seen in Austria, Señora Stevens got each of her KS2 classes (7-11 year olds) to sit in a circle around a selection of artefacts from the trip and invited their questions. This was a new experience and one that the children really enjoyed as it appealed to their inquisitive natures. We talked about the history of Elefsina and Greece, mythology, food and drink, culture and traditions , language, weather, music and dancing and travel!
Having answered as many as possible in the time we had, children were asked to write any further questions and their reflections on PostIt notes. The tweets below show some of the questions asked and the things that children took from the session.
See more here ... for thread A couple of weeks later, we followed this up with an assembly (school meeting in the hall)
Mrs Bird prepared some slides sharing the story of the visit, both the classes in school and the visits and experiences in the afternoon. Mrs Bird and Mrs Milward shared this with the younger children (4-7 year olds) and Señora Stevens with the older children (7-11 year olds)
The children loved looking at the photos and watching the videos of dancing and singing that had been shared by 10th Primary School of Elefsina. They especially enjoyed playing ‘spot our teachers’ and spontaneously joined in with Give Peace a Chance, singing and clapping along. It was lovely to relive our memories a month after we were in Greece and once more there were many questions!
Here are tweets (thanks to Mrs Edwards!)
We shared the trip with parents in the school newsletter We also tweeted and shared all the videos shared by 10th Primary School of Elefsina on Twitter and also our website, and are in the process of adding videos to the posts sharing the trip on our school Let’s Go Cultural! blog

Erasmus+ delegacy meeting with the Mayor of Elefsina
Mr Dimitris Andronis , Ms Lena Pramantioti and Ms Constantina Voitsiou, who are teachers of the 10th Primary School of Elefsina met with the mayor of the city of Elefsina Mr Argyris Oikonomou in order to inform him about the European Erasmus+ eTwinning partnership (Let’s go cultural!) which their school coordinates.
The agenda of their discussions included topics such as: The aims of the partnership, the activities already carried out in the school, the dissemination plan and the involvement of the municipality of Elefsina with the aim of achieving the partnership goals. Mr Oikonomou was very interested in the partnership and its positive impact on the educational community and the Primary school students of Elefsina. In the end, a constant contact and communication among them was agreed upon, in order to reinforce their collaboration. The Erasmus+ eTwinning partnership started in 2019 and it will be completed in June 2022.
