Bahattin Ozyazici Ilkokulu - Turkey

Our school is a public primary school and it was opened in 2012 education year. It is located in Beykoz, İstanbul. We have 682 students and 32 teachers. The students are between 5 and 10 years old. Our vital aim is to teach our students in order to be a social, helpful, cooparive, thoughtful, openminded and good people in life. Our school is located in the suburbs. Our education quality is over the average in Turkey. We teach students all the courses such as Maths, Social Sciences. Unfortunately, the parents of our students are not well-educated and financially poor.So it is much more important for us to teach how to be successful in their lives. We also have the students with special needs such as lack of learning abilities. Although our students have some weaknesses in education, they have high interest in school. They are eager to learn anything that they are taught. They never give up their hope to be a perfect student. They have lots of goals to be reached. Their families are a bit uninterested in education so that our first aim is to let the students have an international knowledge and experiences and get to know our history and cultural heritage better. It is the first time for us to apply EU projects. So far we have tried to raise our students' environmental awareness by collecting waste batteries, papers and etc. in order to get the attention of the students to gain the importance of recycling and save the world for future generations. We have one world to live so that we must care for it. But in this point we are in lack of knowledge about activities which have been done in order to save the World in the global perspectives. A transnational cooperation will help our students and teachers gain all the good knowledge about the other country's history and cultures and add a European and broader perspective to our students' experiences. It is also urgent for us to have a chance to be in a foreign country in order to see other education systems. Now we are not able to see our level in education comparing to the foreign country’s. We are open to new ideas and innovations. Our teachers are open-minded and cooperative so that they are eager to share their knowledge in education with the other teachers. Moreover, they are aware of their strengths and weaknesses in education. They would be appreciate a EU project participation. In conclusion, we are ready to share our knowledge and experiences. As it is mentioned above, we have 32 teachers. And there are 8 teachers who will actively take part in the project. They are Özgür TAN, who is the English teacher and head teacher of school and in charge of running the project, Çiğdem ÇELİKCAN who is English Teacher and will take over the role of leader in running the project, Yakup KOÇ who is Semi Manager at school and responsible for fiancial issues, Alp ARSLAN who is class teacher and in charge of transportation, Önder ÇATALOĞLU who is also class teacher and responsible for accommodation, Aliye KOPAÇ
